Back to Nokia's mobile phone / gaming system chimera...

Though we briefly touched on the vertical orientation of the screen when talking about COD, it's worth mentioning in greater depth here given the tangible hindrance to gameplay it presents the hapless player.

The Spider-Man movie tie-in games were published on just about every anachronistic system you could name, from the Xbox and GameCube down to the PSP and, of course, N-Gage, and not every version was created equally.

In a game which is supposed to be about swinging unimpeded throughout a vast, open city, the N-Gage aspect ratio and visual fidelity are simply not compatible with this mission statement, despite the best efforts of the devs to include 3D sections.

However, even the more system-appropriate 2D sections are awful too, as the vertical screen makes it nigh on impossible to see what's coming up ahead (to screen-right) of old Web-Head.

As for the good old frame rate, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this particular spider has had five of its legs pulled off, given the speed at which this game runs.

Or crawls, more like...
