10 TERRIFYING Enemies From Children's Video Games

1. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - Dead Hand

As iconic as it is terrifying, Dead Hand appears during Ocarina of Time as a mini-boss at the Bottom of the Well, as well as in the Shadow Temple. With its horde of pale, grasping limbs encircling its blotchy body, Dead Hand lives up to its name, trying to snag and ensnare Link during the fight.

Another distinctive feature of Dead Hand is its dislocating jaw, which extends painfully wide to attack the player, if Link has become trapped and caused the main body to appear. Both Dead Hand's limbs and body are discoloured ambiguously with a red substance, implied to be blood through its carnivorous nature.

While this is an enemy which can be defeated, its physical appearance is unexpectedly grotesque for new players. This is emphasised further in that no other monsters have been quite as viscerally sinister as this enemy. Dead Hand clearly strategises how it will trap and consume Link and may have already successfully done this before with other people in-game,.

This is particularly evident through how villagers in Kakariko Village actively avoid the Bottom of the Well. Therefore, players may need their own triforce of courage, before they consider fighting this enemy for the first time.
