5. Emerald Weapon - Final Fantasy VII

Hands up who's been hit with massive panic when emerging from a location on the seabed of Final Fantasy VII, and finding Emerald Weapon just sitting there, waiting for you?

You know you have.

Stalking the seas of Final Fantasy VII and only accessible by submarine, Emerald Weapon is one of the few entities that actually appears on the otherwise static map of Final Fantasy VII. He moves around the seabed regularly, and seeing his steam puffing out in the distance is just unnerving.

Whether it's the darkened seabed, the fact that as previously mentioned he likes to pop up randomly wherever he wants or the fact that he just seems to be waiting for you to challenge him, there's some inherently scary about the appearance of Emerald.

There's a sense of "where the hell is it?" when you can't see it, and there's been many a time you can pan the camera around and there he is, right behind you.

His scariness is only further enhanced by the fact he's one of the toughest enemies in the entire game and will require extreme levels of skill to actually beat.
