10 Terrifying Video Game Bosses You Felt Bad For

8. The Keeper - The Evil Within

It takes a seriously intimidating individual to stand out in a game as bloody and gruesome as Bethesda's The Evil Within, but The Keeper, aka. Box Head, somehow manages it.

A huge, hulking individual, this guy is designed in the style of a meat butcher unaware of basic sanitation, smearing sweat and blood across himself when players run into him in Chapter 7 of the series' debut title.

Armed with a huge hammer, barbed-wire mines and a large meat sack for his victims' brains, The Keeper is completed by the unmissable safe box positioned over his faceless head. Though he brings the pain with his huge size and strength, The Keeper is simply a result of the game's chief antagonist, Ruvik, remembering the safebox in which he used to store his vile workings and legendary rage.

Ultimately, The Keeper is a never ending army of pawns, bound to act in the manner that they do.

The safeboxes on their heads are a reminder of Ruvik's brutal past that he is trying to lock away from the world, and the very fact that they have no problem ripping them and their whole heads off should go a long way in showing just how they feel about their existence.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
