10 Things NOBODY Wants To Admit About Battle Royale
4. They're Threatening The Single Player Experience
The Battle Royale has made its mark on video games as being one of the most accessible and fun forms of multiplayer on the market, to the point where the likes of Black Ops 4 has ditched its single player mode entirely for a little taste of the high life, with more almost certain to follow. The truth is while single player games do still sell, they simply don't continue to sell.
Multiplayer is an investment that players can return to time and time again. Forever, if they want. Its hard to believe that there are still people out there playing Unreal Tournament 2003 and loving it, but they're real, they exist, and they're legends.
The genre itself offers seasonal based content that simply keeps adding and adding to the base game that people love so much. With this much free content it's hard not to justify spending a little money on their in game stores, or buying some cosmetics that would otherwise take days of lootbox attempts to get.
£5 isn't much after all, and it's going to a game that you love and repeatedly play, but it all adds up. Try getting players to buy boosts and cosmetics in a single player game and see how well that works. Looking at you, Shadow of Mordor.
