10 Things Only Animal Crossing Fans Understand
5. Sorry Hon, The Island's On MY Profile
When Nintendo confirmed that each Switch could only house one island at a time, fans expressed their displeasure. This agitation vanished rather quickly upon release, only to then reappear as broad frustration due to the dilemma of figuring out which player profile was the 'right' one.
Since there couldn't be multiple islands on a Switch, every player profile on the host console would be tied to the same island, although they wouldn't necessarily *all* be that Island's Representative. Now, since only one profile can be tied to the island management role, signing into the game under a different user account leads to both Nook boys letting you know that you can visit the island, but you're not in charge of it, so don't get it twisted.
As someone who has multiple people playing on the same Switch, this dilemma has popped up a couple of times. After several annoyed text messages where the host profile is confirmed, only to then lead into 'why is it on YOUR account?' messages back-and-forth, it becomes clear that a one-island-per-system design was bound to lead to some grievances.
