10 Things The Next Console Generation Needs

6. Cleaner Dashboards

Considering consoles are supposed to be the simple way to play games, their dashboards are unnecessarily complex.

Ridiculously overpopulated with not just the options players use every day, but those they will never use, console dashboards have been this way for a couple of generations. Only in the last couple of months with the Xbox Insider's update have we seen a return to the simplicity of the PS2 days, and this needs to be something that both makers need to focus on.

We need to be able to access the things we want to access quickly, with some ability to pin things so that they don't get pushed down as we're trying new things. We need the ability to organise the things we want into groups, whether they are games we're playing or a wishlist of things we want to play, or simply TV streaming apps.

We need to be able to hide the things we couldn't possibly care less about. And, if anyone is thinking about putting ads on the platform (looking at you, Microsoft) then we need the ability to opt-out, perhaps giving those who don't incentives like loyalty points for leaving them switched on.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
