10 Things The Next Console Generation Needs

5. Cross Platform Play

You look at most gaming websites and there's fanboys doing what fanboys do all over the comments section. Everyone who doesn't immediately bow to their view is a Pony or X-bot. It's all very childish, and it's easy to think that all gamers are like this.

The thing is, this vocal minority doesn't even come close to representing all gamers. Most of us just want to play the games that are available on our consoles of choice, think the other one has some neat exclusives that we're looking forward to playing if we get the chance, and would love the chance to play together.

The thing is, whoever is winning the console war at any specific time doesn't want us to play together. They encourage the wars and the fanboyism that comes from them because that sort of mindless brand loyalty equates to more sales for them.

It's time to stop this. When the next-generation consoles launch then the companies behind them need to have grown up and made some deals with each other. When a multiplayer game launches that the developers have made easy to play cross-platform, then they can no longer artificially block those efforts.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
