10 Things You Didn't Know About The Warriors

6. Its Soundtrack Was Revolutionary

Personally asked by Walter Hill to provide a soundtrack which would keep the film's momentum high, Barry De Vorzon's score is an innovative and perfectly suited accompaniment to the treacherous world that The Warriors must navigate through.

Incorporated alongside tracks from artists such as Joe Walsh, Genya Ravan, Desmond Child and others, De Vorzon's purpose built output is filled with driving rhythms and ensures that the restless energy of the film is maintained during its fight scenes and crucial moments.

What makes what he produced so remarkable is that it is widely recognised as the first 'rock 'n' roll' based soundtrack to incorporate the relatively untested instrument that we'd all come to know as the synthesiser. A trailblazing move in a film that borders on a dystopian view of New York City, its efficacy is made clear straight from almost the first strains of its opening theme.
