Released on the same day as the Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess quickly became known as one of the strongest games in an already near-perfect franchise. Saying "gamers are hyped for the latest Zelda" sounds redundant since expectations are always high for the next instalment in the saga. Having said that, gamers were REALLY hyped for Twilight Princess. This wasn't just "another Zelda game". It was the dark, mature LoZ masterpiece that fans were gunning for since Nintendo revealed a demo at Spaceworld in 2000 which depicted a realistic-looking Link battling Ganondorf.
Twilight Princess was heavily praised for its epic storyline, amazing controls, and its vast world which the player could explore endlessly. It seemed so perfect, it's hard to imagine the game turning out any differently. But because levels were tweaked, mechanics were altered, and characters were scrapped late in development, the finished product actually deviates dramatically from the original plans.

10. Twilight Princess Had Ridiculous Rumours
When any news outlet makes the mildest reference to a new Legend of Zelda games, the rumour mill comes in full-swing. One report suggested that Ganondorf was absent from the game and Link would battle a dark army called The Horde. It was also rumoured the game would be called Legacy of Link or A Link to the Darkness.
Now, falsehoods such as these are nothing more than harmless speculation. But some of the rumours were nothing short of absurd. Rapper 50 Cent was said to be providing the voice of Epona (which is weird since she is, y'know, a horse). The president of Nintendo of America at the time, Reggie Fils-Aime, was slated for voicing a mysterious character called The Man. Probably the weirdest rumour was that the fitness guru, Richard Simmons, was supposably voicing the fairy-wannabe, Tingle. (Also, what happened to Richard Simmons? Seriously.)
Obviously, any rational person naturally dismissed these rumours as baseless lies. However, others thought there might be some truth to it since 50 Cent, Fils-Aime, and Simmons were credited for Twilight Princess on IMDb, which is considered a very reliable source of information. Obviously, these rumours were inevitably proven to be utter nonsense.
