10 Times Video Game Heroes Messed With Time Travel
2. Sonic CD
Sonic CD is one of the more divisive games in the classic 2D Sonic era. By using specific posts that hurl Sonic back to the past or further into the future, the levels change dramatically as a result. Sometimes entire paths are altered to unlock new shortcuts, or even new roadblocks that Sonic must get around.
But bouncing back and forth through time is not just useful for changing the level layout. In order to get the best ending, Sonic needs to either gather the Time Stones in special stages, or destroy robot generators in the past to change the future for the better. It's nicer to see a greener and brighter future rather than the dystopian disaster that Eggman creates.
There are also Metal Sonic holograms that, when destroyed, encourage the animal friends to bounce around the level with reckless abandon.
While altering time doesn't change any of the bosses, a missed opportunity if you as us, it does give Sonic CD a bit of replay value. Which time zone is the best for speed running?
