7. Gabriel Knight: Sins Of The Fathers Makes Us Love Our Grandma

In the canon of 1990s of PC point-and-click adventures, Gabriel Knight stands out for the maturity and depth of its plotline, characters and dialogue. Plenty of the game sees us delve into a gooey series of voodoo-related murders in a wonderfully realised New Orleans, but perhaps the moment that stays with us the longest is when hero Gabriel has a chat with his grandma.

Gabriel’s shadowy past is part of the driving force behind the game’s plot, so a natter with gran is needed to solve the games central mysteries. But wonderfully, the game also gives us the chance to chat about our family, our childhood, and even to complement granny just for the sake of being kind. Gabriel clearly genuinely loves his grandmother, and we do too.
