10 Times You Secretly Made The Game Harder (And Didn't Even Realize)
5. Never Go Full Malk - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines is an RPG in which you can play as a vampire in modern-day California. There are seven playable vampire clans to choose from, each possessing their own set of strengths and weaknesses.
The thing is, some of them are less obvious than others.
There are two playable clans that are infamous in the game’s community for being the bane of new players—Nosferatu and Malkavian.
The first one is a terrible choice for new players because Nosferatu’s vampiric curse deforms their bodies to the point where they have to hide from humans, forcing the player to constantly travel across the map in sewers instead of the regular overworld.
The curse of the second clan, Malkavian, is a bit more subtle. Since the clan’s bane is insanity, all of the dialogue options your Malkavian gets are written as cryptic and sometimes nonsensical lines that are really hard to interpret unless you have already played the game as another clan.
For this reason, if you’re a first-time player and choose Malkavians for their abilities, you unknowingly doom yourself to having to carefully decipher the meaning behind your character’s insanity-fueled words, leading to plenty of misunderstandings and unpredictably horrible consequences.
