10 True Video Game Endings You Gave Up On

5. Kingdom Hearts II - Secret Ending

If you played, and completed, Kingdom Heart II on "Proud mode" (the game's "hard mode" equivalent) you may be wondering what it's doing on this list. After all, to see the secret ending all you need to do is plow through the story, wait past the credits and watch the stinger.

And that's perfectly true. On "Proud mode". If you chose to play on "Standard (normal) mode", though...

Square Enix must have been in a sadistic mood when they decided to punish less confident, players with the secret ending's requirements. While the cool kids could simply swagger through the game and straight into the true ending, Standard newbies had to find every treasure chest, collect every weapon, high-score every minigame and beat every secret boss. Only then would they redeem their cowardice at choosing the easier path and be allowed to view another of Kingdom Hearts' impenetrable lore bombs.

Kingdom Hearts, ladies and gentlemen - the series where the true ending requirements are as convoluted and nonsensical as the plot.
