10 True Video Game Endings You Gave Up On
6. Shadow the Hedgehog - Last Story
OK, let's get off our soapbox and discuss something people of all creeds, beliefs and ideologies can agree on:
Shadow the Hedgehog is terrible.
We've discussed Shadow's many failures at length on this website, but to recap: crappy guns, crappy camera, crappy controls, and the feeling that no-one involved in the project had ever seen a video game, much less played one.
Shadow is dreck. 100%, undiluted, bottom-of-a-barrel-of-fried-turds dreck. Which makes it all the more astonishing that anyone involved thought gamers would have the Sisyphean levels of patience required to unlock the game's True Ending.
To unlock Shadow's appropriately titled "Last Story" (as this was indeed the Hedgelord's first and only game), players have to wade through the story mode an astonishing ten times. Having played through it once, it's hard to imagine the masochism required to put yourself through the experience nine more times. It would be like choosing to french kiss 10 king cobras - it was a mistake doing it even once, and the pain's just going to get worse each time you go back.
