10 Truly Horrible Things Video Games Made You Do

3. Just About Everything You Do In Shadow Of The Colossus

Resident Evil 7

Shadow of the Colossus made a big impact on the gaming public, as demonstrated by the high-definition remake on the cards. It's an unusual game in that the whole premise involves doing something the player isn't sure is justified.

The intrepid lead character sets off into a mysterious land inhabited by immense, majestic beasts, and proceeds to kill them all. They're never hostile until they realised they're being threatened, and act only to defend themselves. Most of them are just minding their own business roaming about until the player shows up with sword in hand.

SotC suggests a vague motivation in that slaughtering these placid behemoths will somehow resurrect a dead or comatose girl, but never gives any details of what killing the colossi has to do with this.

The game compounds the player's doubts with its ambiguous, impressionistic ending, which suggests that whatever motivation the protagonist has, he probably did the wrong thing.
