10 TV Sitcoms That Would Make Great Video Games
7. Gilligan's Island
Gilligan’s Island actually has been made into a video game, a 1990 NES offering that squandered the high concept sitcom’s charm and premise in favour of a dull, combat based slog around the titular island, culminating in a bizarre fight with a skeleton. Like the SS Minnow, it sank without a trace.
A modern update of the beloved ‘60s property would make much better use of the desert island setting, with players attempting one simple goal: to construct a sufficiently buoyant craft so as to finally escape the tropical paradise.
All the gang can be controlled, with relative strengths and weaknesses: Thurston Howell III has all the resources money can buy; the Skipper is an experienced sea dog; Mary Ann is the practical all rounder. They must use their attributes to build a seaworthy vessel and make a break for it.
Of course, no one ever escapes Gilligan’s Island, so some wacky happenstance will see you washed ashore in no time, but with a whole island to explore, and DLC to follow (a Harlem Globetrotters expansion pack, for example), the game boasts real replayability.
