10 Unintentionally Hilarious Gaming Cutscenes
1. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! - Final Fantasy X
This much-maligned scene from Square's Final Fantasy X endures in infamy for its heinously awkward depiction of the act of laughter.
When sultry summoner Yuna attempts to cheer up a forlorn Tidus by urging him first to smile, then to laugh, alarm bells are already beginning to ring. What follows is a series of sounds nigh on indistinguishable from those of any exaggerated, sarcastic guffaw usually reserved for viewings of Adam Sandler's Netflix productions.
This sequence makes Tommy Wiseau's "what a story, Mark!" scene from The Room look like the height of natural method acting.
"You probably shouldn't laugh anymore," says Yuna after a few seconds. She read our minds! However, not only does Tidus fail to stop, but Yuna soon joins in with an equally odious forced giggle. Homer Simpson's abrasive chortles upon seeing a professor drop their notes sounded more normal.
What's more, the scene can't be skipped, meaning there's no escape (outside of not playing the game, admittedly not much of an option). It's practically impossible to view this caterwauling cutscene without breaking into hysterics of your own. Well, Yuna wanted laughter, and that's what she gets.
