10 Unintentionally Hilarious Gaming Cutscenes

7. Master Of Unlocking - Resident Evil

Voice actors usually know how to stay in their lanes. They’re not paid to balk at the questionable lines on the script or suggest edits; their jobs are to inhabit their characters and give the dialogue everything they’ve got. When they’re reading some truly bizarre, clearly badly translated lines that nobody in their right minds would ever say, however, it’s nothing less than insanely funny.

“And Jill, here’s a lock-pick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.” “Thanks. Maybe I’ll need it.”

Wouldn’t the “master of unlocking” be pretty adept at opening doors even without specifically being given a lock-pick? It’s also an oddly specific skill to be renowned as a master of. To a more cynical ear, it even sounds sarcastic. The baffling exchange poses a lot of questions.

Sometimes though, the lines just speak for themselves. We’ll never know if the actors had originally groaned with dismay when they first saw the words on the crisp white pages, but the tireless fruits of their labour will always entertain. “Here are today’s script pages. They might be handy if you, the master of line-reading, take them with you.”
