Bayonetta was a singular, entertaining hack and slash game that didn't take itself seriously at all, and as a result was a good amount of fun, even with its blatantly fan-servicing titular protagonist. A shock announcement was made that not only would Bayonetta 2 be coming out, but it'd be an exclusive title for the Wii U (due to Nintendo funding the project), which even sounded like a ludicrous prospect back in late 2012, and 18 months on, sounds like a death wish on the part of Platinum Games. The move just doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone: the original game was only released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, so Wii owners will possibly not have played it, and this sequel completely cuts out those who played the original. After all, if they thought this game might be enough to entice some gamers to buy a Wii U, they're probably wrong. Though it looks fun, it and a few other quality first-party titles won't be enough for most gamers to buy the console, and so it seems rather misguided, even pointless to deliver it in this form.
