3. Assassin's Creed: Mirage

There was a time when an annual Assassin's Creed release felt like one of life's certainties alongside death and taxes. Thankfully, it looks as though Ubisoft have learned their lessons from the days of Unity and Syndicate with the role-playing elements and longer development times afforded to the latest two entries, Origins and Valhalla.

Mirage will mark the final entry in Ubisoft's 'phase 2' of the franchise and already looks like it could be a nice bridge from the good parts of Valhalla, as well as the very first entry in the series.

Set during the Golden Age of Islam, it's hard not to see the throwbacks to the original Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft have already confirmed a greater emphasis on traditional stealth mechanics and storytelling rather than the huge expansive mess that was Valhalla.

With three out of the last four games being set in Western Europe, the series has been in dire need of a more exotic-feeling setting, and Baghdad brought to life with next-gen technology is sure to be just that. Mirage is all set to be Valhalla-level technology with AC1 vibes that could be the perfect enticer for old fans who fell out of love with the series to come back into the fold.
