10 Upcoming 'Souls Like' Games To Play After Dark Souls 3

Lords of the Fallen was no Dark Souls, and its overt replication of that Souls formula meant it was doomed to always be compared to its superior. But it was a decent game with some unique ideas - decent enough that the prospect of improving on it and moving it to a sci-fi setting is a pretty exciting one.

Taking place in an industrial future where man and machine have blended together in some pretty grotesque ways, you control an ordinary guy (with heavy robotic modifications) who finds himself in the middle of some kind of robo-pocalypse, and must fight his way out of it.

It's all pistons, chainsword-things and the kind of metallic body mods that look like they'd crush your head like an egg, but The Surge looks to infuse that Souls formula with slow-mo stylisation and flashy combo-based moves, based on the gameplay footage.

Of all the games on this list, this is probably the most shamelessly Souls-like, though the devs are completely open about their reverence to Miyazaki's creation.
