10 Upcoming Video Game Movies That Are Destined To Fail
7. Tetris
Tetris... of all things. They're making a Tetris movie.
No one will ever know how Hollywood saw the silver screen potential in a game that has literally no possible story elements, no theatric potential, no bombastic visual merit - nothing that makes a movie a movie.
The only possible avenue they could take is along the lines of the emoji movie, which in and of itself, is not a good thing. It'll contrive some interpersonal drama between the squiggly block and the reverse L-block, and they'll go on a spiritual journey to learn that their shapes don't define them.
Beyond the fact that a Tetris movie is a bad idea, the choice is poor in a marketing aspect. Everyone and their grandparents will be able to look at an advert for a Tetris movie and see it as nothing but an attempt to shill curious minds. It is a game that has no marketable audience and thus will likely only be able to coax people in on sheer curiosity alone.
