10 Upcoming Video Game Remakes That Could Be Better Than The Original

7. Operation: Black Mesa

Tripmine Studios

Developer Tripmine Studios is currently working on Operation: Black Mesa - an unofficial remake of Half-Life expansions Opposing Force and Blue Shift.

While fan remakes often get shut down by the rights holders, Valve straight-up championed the development of 2020's brilliant remake of the original Half-Life, Black Mesa, which in the eyes of many fans genuinely improved the iconic FPS.

And even though a different dev team is working on this remake of the aforementioned expansions, from what we've seen so far it sure looks like they're giving them the very same treatment - that is, an ambitious augmentation with a gorgeous graphical upgrade.

Though Operation: Black Mesa has been in the works for over a decade at this point, considering it's a fan project with all assets created from scratch the protracted production is understandable.

In the very least that time looks well spent, bringing vibrant life to two relatively unsung franchise entries in a single package.
