10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Already Doomed
8. Star Wars Eclipse
Star Wars Eclipse was announced in December 2021 at The Game Awards, enticingly revealed to be a cinematic Star Wars-themed adventure game from Quantic Dream, the studio behind interactive dramas such as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human.
But more than three and a half years have passed since Eclipse was announced and we've seen not a single shred of gameplay.
In 2022, reports suggested that Quantic Dream had struggled to staff-up for the project due to allegations of the company having a toxic, harassment-filled workplace culture, with insiders believing the game wouldn't release until 2027 or even 2028, at which point it could very well become a next-gen title.
Furthermore the game's lead writer, Adam Williams, departed Quantic Dream last August, and it also goes without saying that unleashing a creative as "eccentric" as Quantic Dream founder David Cage on the Star Wars IP feels like something of a risk.
A cinematic Star Wars story with Quantic Dream's technical finesse still has a ton of potential, but the fact we've had near-total silence from the developer for so long is incredibly worrying.
And on top of this, Star Wars Outlaws proved just last year that the IP is very far from commercially bulletproof these days.
