10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Getting Delayed

6. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Grand Theft Auto VI
Skydance

In October 2021, a collaboration between Skydance New Media and Marvel was first announced, with Uncharted director Amy Hennig enticingly serving as writer and producer.

The next year the game was confirmed to be a period Marvel project starring Captain America and Black Panther, and was formally unveiled as Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra last March with a cinematic story trailer.

The trailer stated a 2025 release date, though given that we're almost 25% of the way through the year and we still haven't seen even a single sliver of gameplay footage, it's looking increasingly likely that Rise of Hydra slides into 2026.

Considering the rather precarious state of recent AAA superhero games, what with the high-profile likes of Marvel's Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Midnight Suns, and DC's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League all underperforming commercially, while a years-in-development Wonder Woman game was just cancelled, it's clearly tough out there for comic book fare right now.

And so, Skydance will surely want to take all the time they need to get this game right, to ensure it has a hope of finding an audience.
