10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Getting Delayed

5. Skate Story

Grand Theft Auto VI
Sam Eng

Though there's plenty reason to be excited about the imminent remakes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4, there's a totally new skating game on the horizon that looks like no other.

Skate Story is a hallucinogenic skater in which players control a demon "made of glass and pain" who navigates a surreal landscape known only as The Emptylands while carrying out an insane quest - to skate to the moon and swallow it, freeing him from the Devil's control. Right.

The game turned a lot of heads when it was first announced in December 2022 for a 2023 release, though since then it's been delayed to 2024 and again to 2025.

Now in complete fairness, Skate Story is the product of a solo developer, Sam Eng, so it's not terribly surprising that development has taken a long time and missed numerous planned dates.

But it's clear that Eng is cooking up something impressively singular, so he should absolutely take his time, even if it's seeming likely that we'll still be waiting for Skate Story by year's end.
