10 Upcoming Video Games That Will DEFINITELY Be Cross-Gen
2. Halo Infinite
There’s no doubt that Sony has the momentum going into the next generation, with bigger sales and much better exclusives. That trend looks set to continue, with Death Stranding, Ghost Of Tsushima and The Last Of Us all on the slate for PlayStation.
As has been the case before, Xbox is looking to Halo to save them. In a way, that’s a worrying sign; the franchise isn’t the juggernaut it once was and nothing Xbox has served up recently seems ready to take its place.
There were a lot of innovations for Xbox this gen which on balance probably made it the better console, but the games really let it down - and really, that's what it's all about. PlayStation’s titles delivered consistently, and in the next gen Xbox needs to hit the ground running.
Ideally, Halo Infinite would be a compliment to these exclusives rather than the star, but it is what it is. Infinite is set to be a spiritual reboot for the entire series, suggesting Microsoft are betting the farm on Halo capturing a new generation the way Combat Evolved once did.
Both the original Xbox and the 360 were defined by their Halo releases; Microsoft will be hoping they can say the same for their next console too.
