10 Valid Concerns About 2018's Biggest Video Games

They can't all be good.

It's a great time to be a gamer, with 2018 looking set to continue what's been a stellar run of titles over the last few years. Big games like Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War and Smash Bros. are likely to keep us happy for a long time.

That being said, as Sea of Thieves released recently to lukewarm reception, doubt has been cast over the remainder of some of the biggest titles coming this year. There's an awful lot of huge names coming out and chances are they won't all be winners. It's better to prepare yourselves now for what lies ahead.

Of course, disappointment is subjective, but there is precedent in the industry for hotly anticipated titles to upset those waiting for them. That's not to say any of these will be the sort of PR disaster that a game like No Man's Sky was, but it's worth tempering expectations.

No game is perfect, and there are concerns to be had with anything yet to be released, especially one that so many people are looking forward to. Whether those concerns come to fruition or not, is another matter entirely...

10. If Super Smash Bros. Switch Is A Port

God Of War
Nintendo

Okay, so there's very little chance of this game being bad.

Super Smash Bros. holds a pedigree as one of Nintendo's flagship titles. Very few of them have been released since the franchise's 1999 beginnings, with each entry in the revered series considered to be a masterpiece in its time, with a fervent fanbase surrounding it.

But this one could be different. This Super Smash Bros. is being released for the Nintendo Switch, a system doing a great job of filling its release schedule with ports. More than a few people would be highly disappointed if this entry turned out to be a port of the Wii U instalment, especially since there's been a four year gap since release.

Admittedly, there is a decent argument to be made for both sides. It seems impossible that Nintendo could really get a brand new Smash out this year, but if it's really been in development since 2014, then who knows - the logo seems to be new, and you have to wonder if Nintendo would be so secretive about a mere port.
