10 Valid Concerns About 2018's Biggest Video Games
7. God Of War's New Combat System
The new God of War looks phenomenal. Graphically, it's one of the prettiest games ever made and looks to be pushing the PS4 harder than ever before. From the gameplay seen so far, Kratos, accompanied by his son Atreus and newly, manlier facial hair, still packs a punch and can be seen laying the smack down on his enemies.
Santa Monica need to be commended for shaking up the formula - this iteration, with a camera angle much closer to Kratos and more in line with games like The Last of Us, looks to be mechanically quite different to what you're used to from the franchise. There's a good chance that God of War could lose the spark that made the games interesting in the first place - its wild and wacky combat.
God of War used to be incredibly fast paced. Flinging his blades around like a madman to rack up combos, Kratos could rip through waves of enemies in a few seconds. In this new game, combat appears to be a more nuanced, slower affair and vastly different to what came before.
Whether the changes will prove a disappointment or not is yet to be seen. One thing is for sure though - the Nordic setting is badass.
