When Nintendo released the Game Boy back in 1989, it seemed like a dream come true. For the first time, gamers could play Mario and Kirby while they were out and about. It may seem primitive compared to portable consoles like the Switch, but the Game Boy was all the rage back in the day.

But after squinting at the console's tiny screen for a while, it did have a habit of hurting the player's eyes. As awesome as it was to play games on the bus or train, it would've been cool to see them on a bigger screen.

In 1995, Nintendo listened to their consumers' prayers, and revealed the Super Game Boy. By slotting a Game Boy into this device, you could play any Game Boy games on the Super Nintendo. For the first time ever, gamers could play Super Mario Land 2 and Pokemon on a television screen.

When the Game Boy Advance was a hit, it wasn't long before Nintendo created the Game Boy Player - a add-on that allowed gamers to play GBA titles on the tv through the Gamecube.

Even though the Player isn't as well-known as its predecessor, it was an excellent device, especially if you owned the original GBA model, which lacked a backlight.
