10 Video Game Achievements You Only Get For Being A JERK To Other Players

It's nice to be appreciated for being awful!

Online video games typically prefer to promote a spirit of kindness and cooperation among their player base. You don't want your community to break down into total anarchy, after all…

Well, it turns out that some multiplayer titles welcome the chaos actually, and in order to incentivize people to act up on their vices, they offer achievements to those who act like jerks to other players.

Yes, instead of punishing unruly behavior, some games will feature unique achievements that are given specifically for making life harder for other players. Whether it's killing harmless friends, sacrificing them for personal gain, or abandoning them when they need you the most, all of these behaviors and more will have a nice shiny prize for you in the form of a special achievement!

If you don't feel like pretending to be nice anymore, the following titles will not judge you for it. On the contrary, they will praise your sociopathic ways by showering you with rewards that will let you gaslight your angry friends with the old "I did it for the achievement."

10. WORTHY TRAGEDY - The Headliners

The Headliners is a four-person co-op game in which you play as journalists trying to capture photos of strange locales, such as a haunted house or an alien-invaded city.

Taking pictures is an integral part of the game. Each photo earns you points based on what and how you manage to capture (think Dead Rising's photo op mechanic).

Typically the highest-scored scenes are those of supernatural creatures doing something strange or terrifying, but if you want to earn the "WORTHY TRAGEDY" achievement, you'll have to aim for a different kind of exciting action.

More specifically, tragedy made at the expense of your friends.

The achievement is a reward for taking a photo of your friend while they're about to die. Instead of helping them in their personal moment of peril, you have to whip out your camera and make sure you capture every detail of their demise, which, by the way, aside from awarding the achievement, is also worth more points in the game.

Well, journalism can be a pretty cutthroat profession, but hey, at least you don't have to cut any throats yourself. You only need to take good photos of someone doing it for you!
