Dragon's Dogma 2's Sphinx boss fight is a unique encounter in that you can lose and never be able to repeat, for the odd reason that you were too good and damaged the boss too quickly.

The Sphinx can be fought by attacking her shortly after you solve her final puzzle. Defeating her grants you some unique and rare loot, but the catch is that the monster can fly away if she deems you unworthy to fight her.

Your worthiness is largely dependent on how efficiently you take down the Sphinx's health. More specifically, if you target her weak points where her human parts are, you will secretly accumulate negative points until the Sphinx finally decides she has had enough of your cheap shots and then leaves.

If you want to actually kill the Sphinx and get her loot, you'll have to learn how to deal damage consistently, but not too aggressively. Otherwise, she will simply bounce from the fight, and it will be the last time you see her.

Well, someone's got an attitude, huh? She doesn't like it when she loses too hard, so she'd rather never give you the satisfaction of finishing the fight instead.
