10 Video Game Bosses That Were (Almost) Too Hilarious To Kill

The Earthworm Jim series, too, doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is the story of an almighty earthworm in a super suit, after all, so it’s safe to say that the seriousness ship sailed quite some time ago.

The boss battles in the franchise are always silly delights to behold, but the villainous Bob the Killer Goldfish offers some of the very funniest.

This megalomaniacal goldfish from La Planeta de Agua is desperate to claim Jim’s suit for it own, as it’s rather hard to achieve dominion over the universe from within the confines of a small glass bowl. The brawn in its operation, then, is provided by the mighty cat bodyguards that serve it.

As such, levels featuring Bob usually see our hero separating Bob from his underlings and taking him down with ease. In the first game, the ‘boss fight’ consists of Jim merely knocking his foe’s bowl on the floor, but Earthworm Jim 2 goes one better.

The sequel suggests that a dramatic battle with Bob is on the cards this time around, prepares the player for battle, and then… Jim casually removes the fish from its bowl and swallows it.
