10 Video Game Characters Who Became Villains By Accident

Silver the Hedgehog is one of the playable characters from Sonic ’06 who serves as an antagonist in both Sonic and Shadow’s storylines. He appears out of nowhere, attacking the other two main characters and generally being a pain in your backside, stunlocking you with his broken psychic abilities while yelling "It's no use" the entire time.

However, Silver’s personal storyline reveals that his decision to make your existence a living nightmare is actually the result of an accident.

You see, in keeping with Sonic’s ridiculous storylines, Silver is actually a time traveler who travels to the past to kill the monster known as Mephistopheles before he can destroy the world.

Because Silver saw only a glimpse of Mephistopheles while the creature was disguised as Shadow, Silver keeps chasing after every hedgehog-looking thing, assuming they’re his target.

Now, of course, this mixup sounds pretty ridiculous considering how different Shadow and Sonic look, but this actually isn’t the first instance of someone mistaking one for the other, as even Sonic’s close friend did something similar in Sonic Adventure.
