10 Video Game Characters Who Became Villains By Accident

9. Sheogorath (You) - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The Witcher 3

Sheogorath is one of the Deadric Princes from the Elder Scrolls series, who rules over the domain of madness.

Despite his charmingly insane personality, which has earned him plenty of fans, the Prince is undoubtedly a villain who is capable of destroying the lives of countless mortals due to nothing more than a chaotic whimsy of his own malady.

This said, Sheogorath hasn’t always been this way, and this goes for both his original and his post-Oblivion version.

The first Sheogorath was turned into the Prince of Madness by the other Deadra, who feared the power of his original form of the Deadric Prince of Order, Jyggalag.

The second iteration of Sheogorath, though, is a victim of pure chance, as they are actually the protagonists of the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, who stumbles into Sheogorath’s domain by accident in the Shivering Isles DLC and then replaces him as a “reward” for saving his realm.

So yes, whenever you want to curse Sheogorath for messing with you after the events of Oblivion, just know that it’s actually your own character, who didn’t really have a choice, when it came to picking up the mantle of madness.
