10 Video Game Deaths You Couldn't Avoid

By the time you've killed all the colossus in Shadows of the Colossus, you've no doubt come to a pretty unfortunate conclusion: you are, in fact, the bad guy. The reveal that you're not a brave hero slaying evil beasts but rather kind of a jerk who's been killing off a bunch of totally chill creatures is one of the most famous, and most impactful reveals in gaming history.

But there is a yet more painful scene than downing a colossi you've just realised is totally innocent, and that is realising that your misguided hero is now a monster.

After killing the last colossus, you receive a uniquely painful cutscene that sees Wander turn into a straight up demon, having released the Shrine demon into himself. As the real actual monster of the game, you slaughter a bunch of also innocent men, only to be sealed away inside the temple by the efforts of Lord Emon and his convenient spells.

Admittedly, you are reborn at the end of this painful process, but Wander as we know him is gone - for better or for worse.
