10 Video Game Developers No Longer Making Games For YOU

5. Konami

RIP Bioware
Konami

What They've Done: Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, Silent Hill, Contra, Castlevania

What They're Up to Now: Ruining all of the above, shifting to gambling and mobile gaming

Oh Konami... you had it all. You absolutely killed it with Contra and Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Turtles in Time, Sunset Riders, even The Simpsons! What happened?!

A much publicised fall out with Kojima, killing off Silent Hill, bastardising Metal Gear for some terrible spin off, and... tricking fans with an MGS3 pachinko machine. For shame.

If any publisher/developer has fallen from grace hard, it's Konami. But the real stickler is them choosing this path of gambling machines and mobile games, instead of continuing their once-high esteemed franchises.

Mobile gaming, for most gamers, is an afterthought. Something to dabble in, not something to remodel your entire business around. But of course, there's filthy casual spending money to be had in mobile gaming, isn't there.

It really is a shame to watch a once-proud developer commit seppuku over monetary gain, but they wouldn't listen. Let's hope the rumours are true and Sony do take over the licenses to Metal Gear and Silent Hill. Fingers crossed, eh?
