10 Video Game DLCs That Are Secretly Sequels
8. Blood And Wine - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a massive RPG that took players on an epic journey through its war-torn world as titular monster hunter Geralt searched for his surrogate daughter, Ciri. With it’s in-depth questlines turning even the most seemingly mundane side quests into involved and enthralling tales, it doesn't take long to get swept up in CD Projket Red’s vision of author Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantastical world.
While the Hearts Of Stone DLC added another excellent chapter to Geralt's adventure, this stellar expansion was miniscule compared to Blood And Wine.
Taking players to the sunny lands of Toussaint, this outing saw Geralt became embroiled in the pursuit of a dangerous vampire. It was a grand odyssey that saw the gravelly voiced protagonist participate in knightly tournaments, be transported to a fairytale land, and slay fiendish monsters for coin. It also had a more light-hearted tone than the base game and treated players to some of the game’s silliest quests, with Equine Phantoms being a memorable standout.
By taking everything that made the main game so amazing and moving the action to a refreshing new setting, Blood And Wine was more like a shorter follow-up to the RPG classic which acted as a fitting epilogue to Geralt’s story.
