10 Video Game Douchebags You Can’t Help But Love

4. The Joker €“ Rocksteady€™s Arkham Series

Why He€™s A Douche: I can€™t imagine that I€™ll need to talk too deeply into why The Joker is such a colossal douche bag in general. I€™ll summarise though: he€™s a laughing, murdering, psychotic clown, who€™s only two goals in life are to cause mayhem and chaos in Gotham City, and to screw over the Batman. Heath Ledger€™s performance as the Clown Prince of Crime was second to none €“ that€™s not in debate €“ but nobody turned in a douchier performance of this 90+ year old character than Mark Hamill in Batman: The Animated series; a role which he thankfully reprised for Rocksteady€™s epic Arkham series. He€™s the perfect mix of over-zealous, venomous and obnoxious and his monumental douchiness translated perfectly to our gaming screens. Why You Love Him: Even though the he€™s a full blown antagonist (one of the oldest, and most recognised antagonists around today I might add); even though he€™s essentially a psychotic murderer, there€™s something about the Joker that is impossible not to love. Not only is he hilarious a good 60% of the time (when he€™s not murderin€™ of course, but even then, he€™s still sometimes pretty funny), but he understands the Batman, perhaps better than any of the other rogues in the gallery. Given the fact that the Joker appeared in the very first every dedicated issue of the Batman, you could almost say that the two are kindred spirits; that one completes the other. With that in mind, we€™ve always got room for more Joker; especially more Mark Hammil's Joker.
