10 Video Game Features Devs Deleted Because Of YOU
8. The Mako (Mass Effect 2)
The original Mass Effect was a groundbreaking title that introduced gamers to a compelling sci-fi world that would go on to become legendary. BioWare knocked the ball out of the park with this game, and it only got better with the follow-up, Mass Effect 2. That said, there was one glaring problem that players were more than happy to express their hatred of, and that was The Mako.
Oh boy, let's talk about The Mako.
This vehicle was a common feature in the first game, acting as the centrepiece to a selection of side content and even some main missions. But, it played terribly. It was clunky, stiff, and hard to handle but also incredibly floaty and bouncy at the same time, with a lot of criticism (as seen in this Reddit post) also thrown at how it interacted with terrain. Driving the thing was a chore, and it became a big source of contention within the fan base.
Thankfully, BioWare became aware of its reputation, with executive producer Casey Hudson (via Joystiq/TheWayBackMachine) even claiming the "player's perspective" of the vehicle wasn't what they'd expected. As such, the devs went Paragon mode and cut this hated feature from the seminal sequel.
