PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fornite Battle Royale completely changed the landscape of online gaming when they were released in 2017.

Their unprecedented success rang an alarm bell in the offices of developers everywhere, and suddenly everyone and their aunt wanted to cash in on the Battle Royale format.

Since then, Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends have both achieved fairly resounding success, so it's only natural that other franchises would want to follow suit.

Enter Firestorm in Battlefield V.

A valiant attempt was made to compete with the big boys of the Battle Royale genre, but Firestorm simply fell short.

Labelled as dull and in no way as fun as Battlefield's pre-established and already popular multiplayer modes, many players simply ignored Firestorm.

When Call of Duty: Warzone released earlier this year, it blew any chance Firestorm had of establishing itself completely out of the water.

That's not to mention that no one actually wanted it in the first place. Sorry, Battlefield V.
