5. The Getaway
The Getaway and its sequel, Black Monday, were two of the more enjoyable GTA clones released during the PS2 generation, sending us on a memorable trip around London, while telling an engrossing story about murder and revenge. Great voice acting bolstered the package, and when a PS3 take on the material was announced, we couldnt wait to see how London would look. But alas, after some stunning pre-release screens emerged, the game was unceremoniously cancelled, though various members of the team claim that the title might get resurrected in the future. How does a game like this not get released? Sure, Black Monday only sold roughly half the copies of the original title, but thats still close to 2 million, so theres clearly an audience for this type of game. While it might not be too smart to release a game like this around the same time as GTAV, starting development on it soon wouldnt be such a bad idea; see how Rockstars latest fares, then try to build on it and expand in the areas that it's not so hot.
