6. Baldur's Gate

The original Baldurs Gate was released in 1998, alongside a sequel two years later, with each also being accompanied by an expansion pack. The series then betrayed its PC roots and jumped ship to consoles for two Dark Alliance games, and thats the last weve seen of the series. Granted, enhanced editions of the original two games are due for release soon, but weve been starved of an actual, brand new title in the series. Given how long its been, we think its time for a reboot, eschewing the somewhat outdated mechanics of the original game and bringing it into the modern mainstream. Sure, this has the possibility of stripping away the personality of Baldurs Gate, but given how the Dark Alliance games in part already did that, we encourage taking the risk; bring the series back to the PC, give it a glossy new look (perhaps akin to Diablo 3) and streamline the gameplay. Make it more accessible for casuals but still give it that punishing difficulty and epic scope that the earlier games are known for. If done right, this could be absolutely revelatory.
