10 Video Game Franchises With ONE Game Everyone Hates

4. Call Of Duty: Ghosts

There have been many divisive entries into the Call of Duty franchise - especially those which ditched boots-on-the-ground combat in favour of high-wire action - yet only one which has been collectively accepted to be "the dull one."

And that's 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, which as the series' first entry on the PS4 and Xbox One, was expected to offer a glossy, high-tech update to the FPS franchise's well-trod formula.

But what can you really say about Ghosts? It didn't make the visual leap many fans expected, the campaign is a forgettable bore that basically just rehashes prior better ones, and the multiplayer is... whatever.

Ghosts marked the first time that Call of Duty truly felt like it had no compelling new ideas to offer, opting instead to spin its wheels and complacently wait for fans to fork over their cash regardless - which they did, even with sales failing to exceed those of its predecessor, Black Ops II.

Ghosts is the potato salad or tapioca pudding of the franchise - fulfilling its most basic purpose while being completely unremarkable.
