10 Video Game Genres That NEED To Make A Comeback
3. Point And Click Adventure Games
Space Quest and Monkey Island are both very well regarded franchises, and often looked back upon with reverence and love. If the critical success of the Telltale games have shown anything, it's that there is definitely still a desire to play these types of adventures. While the two Kings of the point and click game, Sierra Entertainment and Lucasarts, may now be defunct, the nostalgic love of their titles is strong. Strong enough to warrant a sequel to Sierra's Kings Quest franchise in 2015.
As with several other lost genres, modern point and click titles have found their new home in the Indie gaming sphere. Games like Unavowed, Technobabylon, Just Take Your Left, and Dude, Where Is My Beer? have all found success in niche gaming circles dedicated to this style of game. However it could be argued that the genre is not living up to its full potential in its current state. The Walking Dead Telltale games tapped into the mainstream market with their somber tale of survival horror, and now that they have closed their doors it seems like the right time for another developer to capitalize.
