It's perhaps not surprising that the most difficult part of Days Gone, a game about a zombie outbreak, is fighting the outbreaks of zombies.

But the special zombie bosses - and the later human "boss fight" - pale in comparison to taking down the hordes of zombies that gather at certain points on the map. These are all optional aside from a sparse few, likely because these battles require you to have a surplus of ammo and explosives in order to have a hope in Hell at actually coming out the victor.

When you disturb said hordes, they will swarm after you, committed through a hivemind to tear at your tasty flesh. They vary massively in size, however, as some groups only contain about fifty or sixty members of the undead, whereas the largest group is thought to contain around five-hundred.

Sure, humans have guns they tend to shoot you with - and sometimes snipers when they're feeling a little more dangerous - but you'll never have to fend off several hundreds of them at a time.
