10 Video Game Mechanics All Players HATE

2. Stun-Locking

Picture the scene: you're doing battle with a boss, and you're quite impressively kicking his backside into sometime next week. Just when you feel you've well and truly gained the upper hand, he unleashes a special ability.

And then, you're frozen.

Stun-locking is a cheap way to level the playing field, making even the best of players sit perfectly still for several seconds and watch as their health is hacked painfully away, completely unable to resist in any way, shape or form.

If you've ever been frustrated by a boss in this particular manner, you should note that stun-locking is even worse in a PvP situation.

What's worse than knowing you're better than another player, only to have them stun you and unceremoniously finish you off as you stand by helpless and as meek as a kitten?

Stun-locking is either used as a way to keep the best of players from breezing through a situation, or by less skilled players exploiting an ability to get by. Either way, it's incredibly annoying.
