10 Video Game Mechanics You Totally Ignored (But Shouldn't Have)
8. Knife Cancelling Reloads - Resident Evil 4
Even though Resident Evil 4 provides a reasonable challenge, you need to rely on sneakier tactics while playing on the harder modes. To conserve bullets, it's smart to perform melee attacks on stunned zombies at any given opportunity. To get out of tight spots, you should perform the 180-degree quick as often as possible. Rotten eggs are surprisingly powerful projectiles, so be sure to hurl them at any zombie giving you a hard time.
Although seasoned players should be familiar with these strategies, there's one lesser-known mechanic that may have escaped your attention. No matter how powerful Leon's firepower is, he's momentarily vulnerable while reloading. If his gun has low capacity or takes a while to refill, our curtain-haired hero will be a sitting duck while reloading.
Although Leon can upgrade his weapons to shorten the reload time, there's a much easier method. If he taps the knife button in mid-reload, it cancels the animation completely, saving precious time in a fight.
By utilising this trick, there's no need to pay cash to enhance the reloading ability of each gun, letting you save money for other upgrades, like capacity and firepower.
