3. Carrying Illegal Weapons - Super Mario Sunshine

Who remembers that one time Super Mario got himself arrested?

Well, during the events of Super Mario Sunshine, in which Mario is initially framed by Shadow Mario, the plumber gets himself locked up. That’s not the weirdest part, either.

Even though he’s walking around with a water-powered high pressure backpack-thing, trying to help everyone, the people of the island still fall for Shadow Mario's tricks. Framed and facing trial – yes, Super Mario himself legitimately goes to court – there’s a little discrepancy in the following scenes.

For some reason, even during court sessions, after being arrested, Mario is still allowed to carry F.L.U.D.D, the water jet apparatus, around on his back. Surely Delfino’s Isle’s judicial system would consider such technology a weapon.

Either way, such a lack of seriousness during the game's crucial intro sequence just doesn't add up. I don't think I'll ever be able to consider the Super Mario franchise as realistic ever again.
